I was amazed at the detail included in how to "fix" the print cartridge. I had the same problem on my Brother HL2170W printer. After a month or so, the printer gave an error message indicating it needed a new cartridge. On the advice of a brilliant young kid I know, I applied black electrical tape over the sensor, and hey presto! The cartridge worked for another four months (at least) before it needed replacing.
